Former Blackburn star Bentley, 23, arrived at Tottenham and was quick to point out that his past affiliation with rivals Arsenal had little effect on this chapter of his career.

"I grew up through the Arsenal youth team but it's not a problem for me, all my heart is at Tottenham." David Bentley was quoted as saying on bbc.co.uk/sport.

Spurs were thought to have been chasing Bentley for a while and the selling of Robbie Keane to Liverpool freed up the necessary cash to fund the deal for the England winger. Since he moved from the Gunners to Blackburn in 2005, Bentley flourished; even managing to break into the England set-up.
